The Surf Shack Coastal kitchen in Westchase has recently opened and has a great family atmosphere, great selection of Pacific Coast and Asian inspired food and a beautifully unique, yet casual atmosphere.
It all starts in their very surf oriented dining room. Everything is inspired by what appears to be an Hawaiian beach theme. Complete with hanging surf boards, a huge water mural behind the bar and sleek tones of white and blue that give the dining room the feel of the far Pacific Ocean.
Their outdoor dining area is also large and casual, and contained by fencing and bamboo planting boxes, it is perfect for flies
The menu is diverse and affordable. From $5.95 for their “Shack Burger” to $11.95 for their “Seafood Stack” - A large pile of tiger Shrimp, cod, vegetables and rice served on crunchy flower tortillas.
They have nicely presented Rice Bowls, Burritos, Wraps, Tacos, Salads, Appetizers, plus a a bar and great weekly special.
The Beer battered tacos were very good. The grilled fish tacos on the other hand, were a bit bland, but still had a fresh, clean and natural flavor (I recommend requesting them blackened if you want a bit more flavor).
The kids meals are affordable. At just $3.95, kids meals are served with fries or fruit and include Steak Tacos, Cheese Quesadilla’s, Chicken Tacos, Chicken Tenders or Mac-N-Cheese.
I had greats service, love the atmosphere and the attitude of the staff and will take my family again, no questions asked.

Overall, I found the food to be very fresh, the presentation was beautiful, the atmosphere is fun and casual, yet modern and clean, the service was great and the pricing was reasonable.
