“When I Couldn't Breath” by Sundials is a raw Indie Rock album.
Upon it's first listening the stylistic influences behind Sundials becomes quite apparent, and a 90's West Coast Indie / Gunge sound is the name of the game in this album. Songs truck along with the same energy and don't care attitude as the band Pavement... featuring a jangle pop production captured hot with lots of crunchy distortion throughout.
Songs like “Unpredictable” are a good example of this, with vocal pacing that just wreaks of 90's. The vocal isn't always spot on, but that's part of the aesthetic.
The final track of the album is a clever little acoustic outing, with a lighthearted tongue in cheek take on a love song, ending things on a surprisingly catchy sweet note.
