Move over Four Seasons, you’ve got competition in Wialea with the new hip, hot and all too happening Andaz Maui. Only two months old, the 297- room uber-chic property throbs with young, affluent spenders (YAS) who wine, dine, snorkel, scuba, spa, flaunt buff bodies by any of the five infinity pools or at the well-manned Mokapu Beach and basically rock 24/7.
We (Richard and thee LA Travel Diva) enjoyed a seamless iPad check in yesterday. Our impossibly stylish and spacious room is highlighted by a lanai (balcony) with a mesmerizing view of overlooks four sparkling terraced pools and the ocean. There a s TV, desk, king sized bed, free WiFi, coffee maker, big bathroom with furo tub, shower, robes and even an oversized lounger. There is free coffee and fresh pineapple served in the lobby every morning, a manager’s cocktail party weekly, and complimentary activities such as lei-making, hikes, Tabata training, and more.
As of the moment there is one, very pricy, three meal a day restaurant, Ka’ana Kitchen, ( come back for a full review of our fantastic farm to table dinner experience). A striking spa is up and running with the gamut of salubrious treatments, steams, saunas, lounging rooms and a salon for hair, nails and more.
The grounds are impeccably groomed; deck and beach towels and equipment are top quality. There’s a young, attractive and skillful staff that attends to any need or request. It’s pretty much a paradise perched in paradise. No complaints from this overly-discerning diva, except perhaps the rates and meal prices which are astronomical but a fair value for the luxury received.
Andaz Maui, a member of the Hyatt resort family, is located at 3550 Wailea Drive, Maui, 808-573-1234.
