Best Scene This Week:
Tea's scenes at the end of the week were emotional and touching, but Natalie's scenes were pure soapy love.
After Tina told her about saying the wrong name at the altar, Natalie -- wearing her wedding dress -- gazed into the mirror at Roxy's and practiced saying, "I, Natalie, take thee….” That's when John walked up behind her and tried to tell her how he truly felt about her. He was interrupted by text messages from Roxy and Marcie, who wanted to encourage him and ask if he had told Natalie how he felt yet. Before John could say what needed to be said, Brody came in. Natalie had to run to hide her wedding dress, and by the time she came back Brody had explained that he and Natalie had a son and were going to be a family. John wished Natalie a happy life, which she took to mean he was writing her off, and she assured John that she and Brody loved each other before John slipped out the door.
Eye Roll of the Week:
Tina and Cord had a literal "roll in the hay" in the stables at the Buchanan mansion and several references and jokes about a "roll in the hay" ensued.
Character of the Week:
Tea's scenes this week were enthralling and moving. At the beginning of the week she was packing up Victor's things from the bedroom and remembering which of his possessions each of "the children" would like to have -- reserving certain items for Jack, Sam and Starr. Tea seemed to still be mourning and wasn't feeling well, and at the end of the week she overheard a conversation between Dani and Destiny that inspired her to think she might be pregnant. This sparked memories of the last time she slept with Victor and she kept her secret from others as she went out to buy a home pregnancy test. Friday left her waiting to see the results.
Quote of the Week:
"Seize the damn diem!" - Roxy, to John
Honorable mention: "Alas, poor Victor, I knew him well." - Todd, to pumpkin
Questions This Week:
Is Bree confused that her Aunt Natalie is marrying the guy who was formerly her would-be daddy?
If Cutter is trying to hide "Stacy," why does he stand to the side with the motel room door open wide so everyone outside can see in?
Where will Matthew be when Destiny gives birth to his baby?
Has the gun that Todd wants back been fired? Are his flashbacks real?
Is Tea pregnant?
Fail of the Week:
Viki, Todd and Tina all received court summons in the mail marked "Urgent" and had to leave Llanfair to go to court immediately. What if the mail carrier had been running late, or something had distracted them from checking the mail that day? Why was it necessary to write it as such an immediate event? The whirlwind of deciding the fate of Victor/Irene/Todd's estate made it seem like an afterthought. The suddenness of the event seemed to only serve the purpose of quickly forwarding the plot -- to prop Tina's attempt at selflessness and put Todd back in the office at The Sun. If that was the case, why was it even necessary for Viki to be in attendance? She was not Irene's child.
Success of the Week:
It is refreshing to see the moral dilemmas each character has been faced with, from Jessica's decision of whether or not to tell Natalie about the paternity test to "Stacy's" desire to approach Rex. People in Llanview want to do the right thing but are often hindered by situations that cause them to question the final consequences of their actions. It is easier to sympathize with and follow the story of a person who may want to behave morally but for some reason questions their own actions or is met with obstacles when trying to do the right thing.
It has also been nice to hear Dorian's name mentioned and even see her picture from time to time in her absence. It has been said that Dorian often did the wrong thing for the right reasons. That is why people still love her.
It is a joy to watch a show that examines the thoughts behind the actions of its characters or makes them face obstacles and temptations like real people.
