The Review Series of Int’l CES 2013 products (P4): The Elvis Presley X Mimobot (Photos)

There are many of us who possibly appreciate the thumb drive, or as we say in modern terms, the USB Flash Drive. It works on a basic premise. A device to house your computer files, sourced from wherever; yet, more convenient and easy to carry around. Accordingly, Mimoco (http://www.mimoco.com/) has taken this core product and added some designer perspectives; shaping them into characters, providing photos, videos, and sound effects relating to the character; with a means to advise when in use or safe to remove.

As you can tell, I had the chance to review the Aloha Elvis Mimobot. And appropriately, there’s a light, below the butt, that operates in accordance with its claim. I personally got a chuckle on the voice commentary when connecting or disconnecting the device. That solidifies the importance and usefulness, by its very nature. And just to take a step back in time, there was a complementary thumb drive I received a few years ago, from my coverage of the World Innovation Forum; it became extremely useful, and is still going strong. In like step, the mimobot carries on that same utility, with a playful interactive mindset. I have no problem with my other one, but this Elvis will be part of my travel entourage, in tow for the future.

Let me also state the obvious, if you are an Elvis fan, you’ll probably enjoy the array of vintage, and wallpaper, type photos; not to mention other enjoyable aspects. I cannot speak to the videos, as with my computer, I have not been able to get to. But, for the most part, I was able to check out mostly everything else of extra stuff; the exception being one other file. In further note, Mimoco desires to have you register your mimobot, which is intriguing in a positive way; they've also just added a US Presidential group, while already sporting a bunch of well-known figures, such as, star trek, hello kitty, and star wars. Sometimes, just taking an everyday gadget, packing with a new approach, can offer widening appeal. And yes, it works wonderfully as a USB flash drive should.
