Last Thursday night at The Social marked the return of The Lighter Exchange to the Orlando music scene. The band’s music is a pleasant blend of Rock, Pop, and Americana and with the new line-up of Christian Wilson, Jeremy Hagen, Michael Rollo, Greg Hejja, and Clayton Senne, the band has been elevated to superstar status with so many talented, well-known musicians onstage together. The Social was packed for the band’s triumphant return, and they did not disappoint.
The set kicked off with “Hello My Friend” and the welcoming lyrics “raise your glass my friend / it’s good to see you again / it ain’t over man / we’re just getting started.” The band played very well together as the set continued through “Morning Comes,” “Song About A Girl,” and “Lady Luck.”
The rest of the band left Wilson alone onstage for a solo acoustic rendering of “Lover,” a song he wrote for his twins. The band returned and joined Wilson in performing “Raintree,” a song from his former band Still Naïve, much to the delight of long time fans in attendance.
Next up were two more crowd favorites “Goddamn” and “Long Way Down.” They closed their set with “Paper Planes” with Wilson’s lyrics “I’m just glad I’m standing here,” a sentiment echoed by the assembled crowd.
