Upstairs, downstairs, inside or out, English Rose tea from The Republic of Tea is a sweet treat anytime of the year. Inspired by the award winning PBS drama, Downton Abbey, English Rose is an herbal tea that bursts with floral and fruity flavors. This hearty blend is perfect for hot or iced tea. The limited edition tisane takes its cues from the Dowager Countess: a strong, decisive taste that delivers a one-two (tart and fruity) punch.

English Rose is a blend of ingredients that includes raspberry, hibiscus, rose petals and apples, along with natural rose and vanilla flavoring. This combination produces a satisfying and delicious sweet and tart drink that makes it versatile for many occasions.

Recommended steeping time is five to seven minutes. We brewed ours at five minutes and that was plenty of time to let the robust berry taste come through. The color peaks to a lovely ruby hue making it not only a delicious tea, but a pretty one, too.

We also made a pitcher of iced tea and it was a refreshingly fruity drink that would be wonderful to serve at showers, picnics or an afternoon on the deck.

As a special treat, we served hot cups of English Rose tea with squares of plain dark chocolate. Decadent and simple, this made a delightful pairing.

Like The Republic of Tea's Grantham Breakfast Blend, the packaging is as rich as its contents. The English Rose tin features a photo of the Crawley sisters, Edith, Sybil and Lady Mary, in their lovely gowns, gloves and necklaces just below a miniature depiction of their family estate, Downton Abbey. Capped with a gold lid and limited edition seal, you won't want to relegate this tin to the butler's pantry.

The herbal tea (or tisane) is caffeine-free. Each tin comes with thirty-six natural, unbleached round tea bags. For more information on the limited edition Downton Abbey-themed tea or to order, see The Republic of Tea website.

Reviewers note: English Rose tea was sent to this reviewer based on previous writings as a Downton Abbey fan.
