A disease named photosenthesis, the mother of several children fears the condition for her own two children. The malady prevents the children from enjoying the normal sunlight of day time. And a more supernatural phobia around all of that forces them to live within the recede of a large and gothic England mansion during an assumed time of between WWI. and WWII. The trauma and the way of what with the start of what led the mother to a perhaps figurative breakdown of her psyche, the shutdown her children feared would last forever. The only other thing that moves the mother played by Nicole Kidman, besides that which looks and feels so unbearable, the light which she must shut out all over the medieval appear of the mansion, and the smoggy mist of the boundaries around the huge estate precludes along with all of the other darkness that only some may later appear on the dark side of that moon. The banshee ghosts of this hello darkness my old friend, and the brand new Irish nanny though seem to know more than what they are telling. But during the rush of daily life here, no one seems to want to take the time to really slow down and talk about why housekeepers prior to the new Irish nanny and others continue to run away from the home.
"I've had no news since the war ended," remarks the mother. "In this house a door must be closed before a new one is opened," she adds. The others work to keep the silence and the calm. The migraines of madam. The Germans kept cutting off the electricity, so we just learned how to live without it. That and sunshine as the children who inherit the nave disease forced to live within the mansion of darkness. Tom Cruise who helped to produce the wonderful and horror thriller genre film, utilized along with the director and the other film artists to produce a work which employs a greater use of the shadows of mysterious understanding to illuminate more than that which of the mother unbearable. The script uses a lot of interesting twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing.
