The Organic Beef burger at Scratch French Cafe in Scottsdale

In a strip mall where Indian School Rd. and Miller Rd. meet in Scottsdale sits Scratch French Cafe www.scratchpastries.com Originally opened as a pastry shop it has expanded its offering to now serve a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. On the lunch & dinner menu there are 6 burgers using 6 different sources of protein that include turkey, salmon, lamb, portabello mushroom, vegan and an Organic beef burger all priced at $9.95($12 on the dinner menu & served w/ fries).

Served on an over sized bun, the Organic beef burger comes topped with Cheddar cheese, tomato and bacon along with diced and sauteed mushrooms and onions below the burger. The soft bun is spread with homemade mayonnaise. Cooked medium rare to medium this burger took on an nice flavor with the diced mushrooms, onions and bacon. With juices dripping tasted good, the only flaw I could find was the bun to burger ratio favoring the bun. During lunch all plates are served with a spring garden salad and house vinaigrette. With a 2nd location in the works for downtown Phoenix it should be a welcome addition to the area.

Scratch French Cafe opens 7 days a week at 8 a.m. and stays open until 6 p.m. Mon. & Tues. 9 p.m. Wed.- Sat. and 5 p.m. on Sun. and is located at 7620. E. Indian School Rd. Scottsdale 85251 (480)947-0057 and soon to be opened at 1011 N. 3rd St. Phoenix .
