Norwegian Getaway

We were one of 700 pre-selected guests aboard the Pre-Inaugural Cruise of the Norwegian Getaway assigned to experience the ship for its #UltimateGetaway to spread the word about its beauty and potential.

The Norwegian Getaway is bringing more spice to Miami as the largest ship to set sail there regularly. With 29 restaurants, a bowling alley, grammy award winning Nestor Torres, the Cake Boss' Buddy Valastro and the incredibe (and scary) opportunity to walk the plank aboard this mammoth of a ship, one is sure to find something to delight the heart.

A tadbit smaller than the Norwegian Epic, the Getaway will replace the Epic in the Caribbean while the Epic will cross the Atlantic to sail in the European market. One of the immediate appeals to this ship was the interactive app we received access to prior to departure. This app provided the ability to pre-plan your on-board experience.

Onboard the Norwegian Getaway, the technology excitement continued with its digital screens throughout the ship. The digital screens allow you to make reservations for dinner or entertainment venues. It also provides a "What's Going On" screen and more.

678 Ocean Place gives you a 3-story view of center ship known as entertainment central. From the kids clubs to the adults only Bliss Ultra Lounge, the Getaway offers something for the entire family to enjoy. Norwegian has certainly increased their presence in the cruise industry with the introduction of three exquisite ships, the Epic, the Breakaway and the Getaway in just approximately 3-years. And following those three ships with the addition of two more ships in 2015 and 2017... the Bliss and the Escape. For anyone enjoying the new cruise ship experience, Norwegian is sure not to disappoint.

And if you think you cannot enjoy luxury on a mass market cruise line, then guess again. The Haven provides the yacht experience aboard Norwegian's newest ships. Passengers in the Haven enjoy their own private concierge, private access to the Haven area, a private pool area, lounge and more. Perfect for the family who enjoys exclusivity, yet desires the availability of specialty restaurants and Broadway shows such as Burn the Floor, smaller cruise lines cannot accommodate.

Norwegian Getaway offers space for 3,969 (double occupancy) and 1,640 crew members. It premier sailing will be February 8, 2014.
