If you were to turn on a "way back machine" for smartphones, and you turned the dial to the year 2002, one of the big stories of the day would be The introduction of the first smartphone by a company called HTC, "The HTC Wallaby" The Wallaby, actually ran on one of Microsoft's phone operating systems of the day, Pocketpc 2002, wow, what a Relic.
Now, fast forward a quick 11 years, if you were to land on February 19th 2013, would have landed on the exact date that the HTC company was launching their newest, and bestest smartphone of their manufacturing career, The HTC One. In my opinion the HTC ONE is an incredibly functional and beautiful phone, and in that order. The ONE, may not be a game changer, however, it has the potential to be a major contender in the field, and could cause others to up the anty on smartphone features. So, lets take a look at some of the great features contained in and around the new HTC One.
If we were judging the HTC One by its cover alone, we would see the following.
- A 4.7 inch 1080p display
- Two small but powerful stereo speakers
- A camera, capable of what HTC describes as "HTC Zoe Gallery"
- Two very small but noticeable microphones for really great recording
- One piece smooth aluminum body
- Two Cameras Front and rear facing - 2.1mp ultra pixel 300% more light - 28mm lens
- Live home screen with changing content as it updates
- Gorilla glass display
- 2300 mah battery
- Slow motion video recording
- Retouch photos with object removal
As we all were taught, it's very shallow to judge based only on what we see on the outside.
So, if we were to take a look at the HTC's inside we would see:
BlinkFeed - Select content which continuously updates on the front screen-1400+ sources
HTC Zoe Gallery - Allows you to take 20+ images & 1-3sec video all with 1 button press
HTC Boom Sound - the 2 front facing speakers are driven by amplifiers providing excellent sound
Voice sense - The HTC monitors the ambient sound during a call and increases volume to your ear

Micro-usb 2.0
32/64 gb optional storage
Qualcomm snap dragon 600 quad core 1.7ghz

And If all of that isn't enough for HTC to get you to convert, check out the $100 or value of your phone trade-in offer. In addition, you'll receive 25gb of free cloud storage on Dropbox, for two years. The One, comes in Silver/Black or Black/Black, The phone is configured and personalized by using a web based wizard that allows you to setup many aspects of the phones personality. And for those of you who are TV viewers, the HTC One has a bit of a strange feature. The ONE can be used to control your home TV. It allows to to channel surf, bring up and control your interactive TV guide, and even notify you when your favorite program is on. Last but not least, the phone is serviced by Sprint, At&T, and T-mobile, It is also available at Best Buy.
