The new 'Captain America' film is better than the original

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

This weekend, the highly-anticipated "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" opened in theatres. It is the latest film set in the Marvel comic book superhero universe.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is set shortly after the events of "The Avengers." In it, former World War II soldier Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), aka Captain America, is still struggling to adjust to the new world. He remains employed by S.H.I.E.L.D. and learns that they are planning to launch helicarrier ships to preemptively fight terrorism. Steve is against the plan as it will have a chilling effect on society. Soon, he learns of a conspiracy within S.H.I.E.L.D. and becomes a wanted man by them. Steve goes on the run, and he is helped by several loyal friends, such as Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson), a S.H.I.E.L.D. operative, and Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie), a war veteran.

This movie has stellar action scenes. The fights are much more gritty and realistic than the ones found in most superhero films. Also, there are several intense shootouts and chase scenes.

The cast is excellent. Chris Evan is, as always, perfect as Steve Rogers. Scarlett Johansson is also great as Natasha, who often tries to convince Steve to develop a personal life. Another memorable performance is by veteran actor Robert Redford, who plays the senior official at S.H.I.E.L.D.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is one of the best Marvel movies.
