If you're at odds with your children being mean with their manners, then read The Monsters' Monster to them.

Once upon a time, since that’s how all stories start out with, there were three holy terrors: Grouch, Grump and little Gloom “n” Doom who thought they were monsters. These three lived in a monster castle overlooking a monster-fearing village. They spent their days throwing tantrums and having arguments, which always ended up in a nasty brawl. Until one day, they decided to do something productive and they were going to create a monster as big and bad EVER just like they thought they were. They got all the supplies together they needed, created this BIG bad monster and set him out in the lightning, but something went terribly wrong. When it came time to unwrap his bandages, he was nothing what they hoped he would be. Instead, he was kind and sweet. And he was thankful to be alive. In the end, they all quietly sat in front of the beach eating powdered jelly doughnuts. Yes, even monsters can have a simple pleasure eating donuts.

The moral of the story behind The Monsters’ Monster will teach children between the ages of three and six gratitude and the word “thank you,” which is music to one’s ears. It’s a cute book for Halloween featuring a monster that is not scary but adorable and friendly.
