The Mighty Claymore

I recently brought Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale wee heavy style beer into my store. A friend of mine was turned off by it, which piqued my interest so I had to try it. It has an attractive label, which I have found on many of Great Divide's brews.

Appearance: Serving it slightly chilled in my Unibroue Maudite tulip glass. I was told it has no head and a lack of liveliness. I did a hard pour and produced a very small half finger head, surpirsing, and yes, dissapointing. It is a very nublious brown.

Smell: pretty nice, milk chocolate, coffee cake, very malty.

Taste: black licorice, roasty, smoky. Has more of a porter to black lager taste but remain fairly medium body. Not bad, but not very true to the style.
