The brother Blues: Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Akroyd), are on a mission from God, bringing renewed interest into the genre of music that bares their name in this comedic film of holy proportions.

They are on a quest to raise $5,000 to save the orphanage in which they were reared by the Penguin (Kathleen Freeman), by reuniting the band and holding a benefit's concert..

Jake, recently released from prison, finds himself and his brothers in the scope of not only the local patrol but from the state patrol. And to add on that, the brothers become the most wanted men in Illinois not only from the law but from fans waiting for a memorable performance by the duo that excites and exhilarates.

The music and choreography are well represented with James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Cab Calloway. The sequences show the professionalism but as well as the amateurism as the city of Chicago and its inhabitants breaks into song and dance.

While getting the band back together, evading law enforcement led by Burton Mercer (John Candy) and a looming deadline of when they have to have the money, they must also avoid a local chapter of Nazis symphatizers led by Henry Gibson and a country music band with its lead singer Tucker McElroy (Charles Napier).

Also on the hunt for the brothers is a mysterious woman portrayed by Carrie Fisher portraying a different kind of princess.

Beside the music, the film offers plenty of other excitement featuring intense car chase scenes through the city’s underpass as well as their incredible maneuvering through a shopping mall in the Bluesmobile, becoming a third member of the Blues brothers.

The partners in crime with their trademark black suit, hat and sunglass, Mr. Belushi provides the energy with his larger than life personal of Jake Elwood. He shows his ability to emote different personalities that he's well known for and physicality.

Mr. Akroyd plays the straight man whose energy Mr. Belushi is able to play off of. His job is to keep Jack in check and grounded while manning the Bluesmobile out of certain predicament that the two somehow manage to find themselves along the way.

Director John Landis goes all out in showcasing the city of Chicago and the film’s climatic scene of grandosity just goes to show that when two brothers are on a mission from God all they need is faith and a lot of prayer.

When all you got left is a car that seems inapprehensible with a full tank of gas cruising through the state of Illinios at night wearing sunglasses with half a pack of cigarettes you never know who you’re going to run into and what adventure lies ahead.
