With 5 burgers ($9.95 - $14.95) under the Wine Burger Bar section of the menu using 5 different proteins, the Lamb Burger ($14.95) has caught my eye for a while now and I recently felt now was the time to sink my teeth into at 5th and Wine Restaurant and Wine Bar www.5thandwine.com in downtown Scottsdale.
This burger uses Colorado raised lamb meat that is grilled and then topped with bright pickled onions and Tzatziki sauce with heirloom spinach, goat cheese and tomato slices below the burger all between a grilled Brioche bun. Grilling it to the requested medium rare, something I did not expect with lamb meat due to low fat content, this burger appears bigger than life when it arrives in front of you. A lot of the size comes from the thick bun used to hold the meat and all its accompaniments, you soon realize it's better to be a bit larger than smaller. The the lamb meat is moist and tender and all is flavorful with strong flavors of the goat cheese and pickled onions. The Tzatziki gives it the Greek flavor you'd expect when reading the ingredients for the burger.
The burger comes with a pickle spear and come with your choices of fries, sweet potato fries, mixed green salad or cup of soup. The fries are dusted with Grana padano cheese, garlic and parsley and a garlic aioli dipping sauce which were very good.
