Men and Women have fought together against a common enemy since the beginning of time. Rape and sexual harassment for just as long. Unfortunately, we act like this is a new thing. Women in this kind of environment is nothing new. In the olden days, women were brought along in carts to satisfy the men in between battle. Simply put Armies would bring their whores along for battle.
In this country some 100 years ago women wanted equal rights. Voting, money and well just about anything and everything a man had, women wanted equally.
It was voted upon and women won those rights. Women wanted the same rights in the military. Well that has been a problem. Rape and sexual harassment is something the military loves to push under the carpet. Women who are in some cases better soldiers than their male counterparts are not only beaten and raped but when they go report it to their superiors are told to be quiet. They are transferred to duty stations where the nearest village is a hundred miles away. In other words they are usually drummed out of the service.
This leads to women having severe mental reactions to their rapes and assaults.Unfortunately this leads to depression and suicide.
This movie documentary is their story. It is a must see by everyone. It is a crime that should never go unheard. Director Kirby Dick does an excellent job at bringing this problem to those that need to see it. The case against rape should be brought to the fore front of the military code of justice. Men and Women are fighting side by side and Kirby Dick shows that respect from both sides is a major factor in getting the job done.
