Wow! Last year Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit : An unexpected Journey" doesn't compare to the fast pace adventure it's sequal takes you on. In this epic fantasy, the twelve dwarfs along with Bilbo Baggins, "the Burglar" are continuing their journey to the Lonely mountain to reclaim their home from Smaug the Dragon, who now resides in it, hoarding the mounds of treasure in a cave.
Meanwhile, Gandalf the Grey departs from the company to go on his own quest to discover a mysterious origin that is preparing for war on all the races of Middle-Earth.
Before I close my review I'd like to say this was really enjoyable and funny. Maybe it's because we already know the characters and there was a lot of introduction in the first movie. We get introduced to a slew of new characters and get to see some familiar faces. A guard Elf named Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly) who is in love with a younger Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and we get to see Legolas's father, Thranduil, the Elf king (Lee Pace) who refuses to help Thorin on his quest.
In fact, this movie felt a lot shorter than it's predecessor, that I will be seeing it again, like so many others.
