The Haunting... is a very entrancing film. From a spiritual standpoint, it makes a lot of sense. This is its first positive aspect.
The cast is quite credible. Cecily Tyson as Mama Kay, for instance is as frightening as she is warm.
The story begins an in old house in Georgia, which was once a hub for escaping slaves. The history of this particular area is as rich as the stories told, from a slavery perspective.
Heidi Wyrick, as played by Emily Alyn Lind, is a sensate, as is her mother, played by Abigail Spencer and her Aunt Joyce, as played by Katee Sackhoff.
Aunt Joyce is a favored character because of the acceptance that she has for her spiritual status. Mother fights it and tries to stop Heidi from developing, as such.
The movie itself is a rich experience.
Heidi: I see things.
Heidi: If you loved me, you'd believe me.
Heidi: They're all old.
Joyce: There is nothing wrong with Heidi!
Joyce: You can sense things that other people can't.
