The Half Pint Pub, Park Ave’s Biggest Little Hang Out (Photos)

When someone tells you that they live on Park Avenue you can already tell what kind of person you’re dealing with. Usually this person is a hipster or a college student that likes a neighborhood where there are shops and eateries in walking distance. You know, the type of person that will invite the neighbors over to play games hang out, grill some food and drink some beers. Okay I’m not in college and I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a hipster, but this does in a way describe me and that’s probably why I live right off of Park Ave. And right around the corner from me is a tiny little bar aptly named The Half Pint that is a perfect representative of its’ location.

The Half Pint Pub is an Irish Bar Known for its large and ever changing beer selections. Yet it is a very small bar, one tof the smaller ones I’ve been to. If there are 12 people in it the place feels crowded. So the fact that it has such an extensive beer list is a pleasant surprise. They have 14 beers on tap and I’m talking good beers like Rohrbach Scotch Ale, 3 Heads Kind IPA, Dogfish Head Rhizing Vibes, Apita Purple Haze, and much more. Even their bottled beer is on point with beers like Dogfish Head 120 minute and G.L. Alchemy Hour. And get this, to give patrons a chance to try different beers, The Half Pint sells beer by the half pint! This means you can get two different half pint beers and get charged for 1 pint. Yep, the name of the bar doesn’t just represent the size of the place. Pints are between five and six dollars for the good stuff by the way.

They nailed the Irish Pub feel perfectly with the big red door that leads you into the dark brown wood stained bar. There are a couple of LCD televisions as well usually with a sporting event on. They do not serve food but you can have a pizza or other food delivered to the bar (there’s a Marvin Mozzeroni’s right across the street). This isn’t your typical late night college bar either. It closes at 11:00 PM nightly, right before youngsters tend to get rowdy. It is open at 10:00 AM on Saturdays. For me, Saturday afternoon is the best time to stop by and catch a sports game while having a few pints. The bartenders are friendly as well and will be happy to have a conversation with you.

Overall, I definitely recommend this bar if you like low key, neighborly bars that serve quality beers. If you’re looking for a bar that is loud, open late hours and serve 2 dollar pints of the cheap, bars like Oxford’s on Monroe Ave is only a few blocks away. I guess bars like that represent what Monroe Ave is all about. Bars like The Half Pint is a good representation of Parke Ave. If you’re reading this article, I think I know which bar I can find you in.
