The Good Food Revolution

At the Omaha Public Library choosing gardening books for winter planning, this book stands out. A book by Will Allen, one of the celebrated practitioners of urban agriculture, about his journey with Growing Power - growing good food, building good communities while supporting and training good people - sounds like what usually happens, right?

But the book is more than the story of Growing Power or the story of Will Allen; it is the story of people and passion and dreams. I know. I know that you might be thinking, really? Really. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. I expected a book like the usual business tomes of today with an agricultural twist. In reading the book, you get the life story of Will Allen. You get the story of the men and women who believed in his vision and shared his passion for it. You learn about the kids who grew up while working in the program. You share the grief of the families that suffer hardships during this journey.

The Good Food Revolution is available for checkout at the Omaha Public Library. Check it out – fascinating read!
