True to its name, The Gathering has created a local dining destination with a welcoming feel.
Housed in the former location of Michael's Southshore, The Gathering offers a menu of comfort food and a few twists on classic items.
Sisters Molly and Jill McGlinchy have created a place where friends and family meet to enjoy sports, music and good food.
The large bar is where the action happens with a TV in every corner to watch your favorite sporting events and a fireplace to make it feel warm and cozy. The place comes alive on Friday and Saturday nights with live music from groups like Hanover Chase, Matt Roush and The Indy Niles Band.
Check out their menu at www.thegatheringatgeist.com.
Here are a few highlights from the menu that I recommend giving a try. The Fiesta Nachos are gluten free with corn tortilla chips topped with shredded chicken, melted queso cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, cilantro sour cream and jalapenos.
The Buffalo Chicken Wrap is perfectly spicy chicken topped with shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomatoes served with your choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing.
You can also build your own burger with a half-pound of beef and your choice of toppings including provolone, cheddar, American, blue cheese, avocado, jalapeno, mushroom, bacon and ham. Get it with the truffle fries and you will be set to watch your favorite sporting event in the bar.
If you are looking for some homemade comfort food, check out the Indiana Home Cookin' section of the menu. It features old-school family favorites like bone-in pork chop, beef liver and onions, and Mom's meatloaf.
The restaurant side of Bistro is a little more low-key and definitely family friendly. The Kids menu offers favorites including pizza, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, mini hamburgers and spaghetti and meatballs served with a drink and side for $6.75.
Grab some friends and check out The Gathering for a game or band this weekend. Cheers!
