Whether you’re exploring the beauty of one of California’s oldest botanical gardens, taking beautiful pictures, learning about the native plants, being surprised by the colors of the seasons, or taking the enchanted little train with your family, nice moments will find you in the renowned Descanso Garden.
The beautiful garden is nestled in the heart of La Canada, just minutes away from Pasadena. It is a jewel of the city, a legendary and a spectacular place for nature and plant lovers. It is a garden worth visiting. Descanso Garden is a proud home to giant, centuries old oak trees, ponds, a beautiful rose garden and unmistakably Californian aromas. It is a pleasure to cross the Japanese garden’s red, arched bridge and enjoy the tranquility of this well-designed garden.
The gardens at Descanso bloom year round. Most of them are beautiful any time of the year. The early winter months are prime time for Camellias. From mid-March to the end of April many visitors wonder through the colorful lilac garden. During the summer it is nice to walk in the shade of the giant Coast live oaks. Fall brings many colors and pumpkins into the garden. Descanso Garden amazes their visitors all year round. Each visit leads to a different experience.
It is recommended to consider attending some of the garden’s special events, exhibits that members look forward to all year. It is a good idea to visit the property which used to belong to newspaper magnate E. Manchester Boddy. He owned the Los Angeles Daily News.
The family friendly garden is a perfect place for those wanting to explore, linger and relax. The garden has a nice café as well and an even nicer gift store! There is plenty of parking; it is easy to find a parking spot.
