This examiner went to The Flying Fish one Saturday to study. Before studying, she had to fill up her stomach. For lunch, she ordered a tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwich on wheat bread and genmaicha green tea. And for dessert, dirty chai and a butterscotch blondie.
This examiner was dissatisfied with the brand of tea. The flavor and the aroma were weak. The taste and the smell fell flat. The tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwich would have been better served on ciabatta or Italian bread. It was served on whole wheat bread. And where were the fresh basil leaves? They were grounded into the pesto. It should have been tomato, pesto and mozzarella. The dirty chai tea was better than the genmaicha tea. It had taste. And the blondie was nothing to rave about.
Early in the day, the level of noise and foot traffic in this small shop was high. But by noon, it did wind down. The jazz music was soothing and comforting. This examiner did get some studying done. After studying, she sat by the window and watched people go by. She wondered where they were going and what their plans were for that day. Sometimes a little distraction can be good. After a while, it was time to leave.
The Flying Fish is a chic and funky tea and coffee shop in Mount Pleasant. The atmosphere is great but the food is so-so.
