This novella begins with three billionaire playboys agreeing to be part of their friend's wedding. While none of them are excited about traveling to Sanctuary Island, off the coast of Virginia they agree to be part of the festivities. The Fireside Inn follows Lord Leo Strathairn and Serena Lightfoot. Serena is the librarian of the island's library and Leo is from a wealthy, landed family. Leo entreats Serena to help him come up with a reading for his buddy's wedding. Serena agrees to help if Leo will bring her to the wedding as his guest so that she can meet the people on the island most able to help fund her library.
Leo has no intention of finding the love of his life on Sanctuary Island, like his buddy has, but he's not opposed to having a little fun along the way and it's not long before his interest in Serena goes beyond a study buddy. Of course, they each have their own baggage. Serena is tired of being taken advantage of because she's smart and trusting. Leo has his own demons to battle and they're almost enough to send Serena away forever.
The Fireside Inn begins a trilogy of novellas that I will certainly keep an eye out for!
