Situated in one of the oldest houses in Scottsdale, the year old House Brasserie is owned by the partners that bring us The Mission a few blocks away in old town Scottsdale. One of the partners is executive chef Matt Carter and if you familiar with Matt's cooking you know it runs the gamut from French at Zinc Bistro at Kierland Commons or the aforementioned Mission which is authentic Mexican cuisine. At The House http://www.thehousebrasserie.com/, Matt's menu is more the way he would cook at his own house, modern America cuisine with hints of international ingredients. On the lunch menu at The House is the Double burger ($14).
This thicker than usual 2 patty burger uses beef from Creekstone Farms and is grilled before being set between a buttered and toasted Brioche bun. It is topped with melted cheese, shredded Iceberg lettuce and pickle sauce while the bun comes spread with mustard. With a hint of juices dripping after the first few bites this burger takes on a somewhat unique flavor profile with the savory mustard and slightly sweet pickle sauce. The ketchup on the side need not apply and was reserved simply for dipping the crinkle cut house fries that accompanied the burger, which were perfectly golden brown and crispy.
If this is the way Matt cooks at home consider my RSVP to be there, now if I could just get the invite.
The House is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Sun. - Thurs. and until 11 p.m. on Fri. and Sat. and is located at 6936 E. Main St. Scottsdale 85251 (480)634-1600.
