The band came through here last April with a few other acts and played a killer set at The Lost Horizon (See here) Now, they come back to The Westcott Theater with the legendary Hatebreed (Jamey Jasta interview) as more veteran and with a fast growing fan base of their own.
The Contortionist is not your average metal or hard rock band. They can growl and attack with the best of them and take a hard left into an ethereal universe of sound that any progressive rock fan will be stunned to hear. Technical superiority and vicious tempo changes, dream-state induced flight, mixed in with aggression with a message and maybe you get an idea what the band can do.
An unreal trek into the musical universe that is perhaps unlike anything else you have ever heard. You can check them out on the Hatebreed tour along with Shadows Fall and Dying Fetus with the Syracuse date underlined below:

Interview with Jonathon Carpenter
New album and on tour, how is it going so far?
The tour has been pretty awesome so far. There have been a lot of good turn outs and are about two weeks in. Couple weeks to go and it’s one of the bigger ones we have done yet.
The band has a wicked sound with a lot of influences; I am a huge Rush and Dream Theater fan and I can hear both; how would you describe your music?
Yes, we were influenced by those bands and we do try and bring some of all of our influences out We try and create a journey with the songs and all of the sounds.
With such a wide range of sound, how have the fans been out on the road with Hatebreed?
The fans have been good. There are a few nights where it’s a lot of new fans too. It’s been fun, the Hatebreed crowd is more established, maybe a bit older so it’s a challenge but fun too!
‘Causality’ is a cool video and the song is based on?
It’s about a person’s journey obsession with lucid dreams and other states of mind.
Any plans on the next album as of yet or music in the works?
Right now it’s in the infant stages, some planning stages but right now it looks like summer before we get into it.
What can the fans here expect at this show when you guys take the stage?
A lot of the old, but a lot of the new too; so a lot of people that saw us before will see the new set that we’ve built. It will be cool!
Thanks for doing this and is there anything you want to say to the fans?
Thanks for all of your support, come on out and say hi at the show and we look forward to being there!
