Bayou Bakery was a recommendation from a food blogger. The food at the coffee bar was okay.
The chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting has a slight buttery taste and a very nutty frosting. It is like eating a Recess peanut butter cup. Dato’s was a no-no! The chocolate cookie sandwich was hard as a rock and the filling was too sweet. You are better off eating Oreos.
Forgo donuts and get a beignet. The beignets are deliciously warm and sweet. You might want to get a bib because the powder can easily get onto your clothes. The vanilla bean muffin, which was recommended by a barista, was a good muffin. I would eat it for breakfast or dessert.
Bayou has two specialty lattes which are supposed to take the ordinary out of a latte. The cinnamon bun latte is a warm, fulfilling drink with the taste of cinnamon. But it’s not anything to rave about. The maple facon latte has maple syrup and liquid smoke, to give the illusion of bacon in a coffee. Unfortunately, this was a disappointment. No amount of syrup or smoke did the latte any good. You might as well just get coffee and milk.
Bayou Bakery could expand the coffee bar menu. Better yet, they could display a coffee bar menu. Since this is a coffeeshop review, it will left at that!
