The Chaw: 'LP' (2012)

“LP” by The Chaw is a heady mix of psychedelic and blues.

The band references themselves as taking inspirations from Spaghetti Western soundtracks, the opening instrumental track is a very good example of them doing just that, as a solo electric guitar stands alone noodling on a flamenco line.

When The Chaw kicks in with their full sound the listener is transported into a dark and sinister soundscape lush with blues guitar riffs and organs that sound straight out of a haunted house.

The vocal is like a less gruff Iggy Pop singing through a paper towel roll, odd but suiting within the daring production.

Tracks like “Mount Diablo” jam out in pure psychedelic indulgence that becomes almost trance like when offered up in an almost 6 minute serving.

The final track (entitled: 'I With You') starts with a lonely crooner voice paired with distant reverb dipped guitar, before slowly progressing into a grungy last hurray.
