Brackin burger

On a busy strip of McDowell Rd. in Scottsdale sits the El Dorado Bar & Grill With new owners, Doug and Joy Brackin, this bar and grill serves cheap drinks to those that live in the area along with bikers out for a ride. They also have a menu that offers good food at very reasonable prices. On the menu are 5 burgers ($6.50 - $7.50).

The Brackin burger ($7.50) is prepared on the flat top griddle to lock in the juices and comes topped with a green chile, grilled onions, pepperjack cheese and a horseradish sauce. Lettuce, tomato and pickle chips come served as a garnish on the top half of the toasted bun. After the first bite you know this burger is something special with the larger green chile draping the burger giving a it a little kick then added to by horseradish sauce that kicks it up a notch. The burger was cooked to my requested medium rare leaving some of the fatty flavor. On the side you have a choice of fries, potato salad, a side salad, cole slaw or cottage cheese.

The Brackin burger turns out to be a great burger especially when you consider it's only $7.50 with a side included. When accompanied with a cheap drink to wash it down you can easily get in and out of there for under $20 which is hard to do in other parts of Scottsdale.

El Dorado Bar & Grill opens daily from 6 a.m. - 2 a.m. and is at 8708 E. McDowell Rd. Scottsdale 85257. (480)945-2606
