9Round is a combination between Curves, CrossFit and Boxing. Like Curves, it has stations and no set starting time. You can show up whenever you want and get started. There are 9 stations or "rounds." Like CrossFit, there is a different workout posted every day for each round. The stations are a combination of boxing, kickboxing, weights, cardio, and abs. Station 1 is typically cardio like jump-roping. Station 2 is a weight bearing activity with weights or kettlebells. Stations 3 through 7 are different bags for kicking and boxing with gloves. Station 8 is a speed bag and Station 9 is ab work. It is a total body workout.
Each round is three minutes with 30 seconds in between, for a 30 minute total workout. You can go through twice if you want to make it an hour. During the 30 seconds, you are doing exercises like wall sits, planks, or mountain climbers. You remain active for the entire workout.
There are always two personal trainers on the floor helping clients at each station to make sure the form is correct and the workout is clear. They also help motivate by cheering you on. The trainers know everyone by name. Pricing is a monthly fee for unlimited gym use.
If you are looking for a fun, sweat-inducing workout, head to 9Round.
