Beaders beware. There is a new tool in town. The Beadsmith One-Step Looper is a must have for anyone who works with wire. It was demonstrated by Panache Gems and Beads at the recent Intergalactic Bead and Jewelry Show. Despite its price ($34.99 list/$25.50 Amazon Prime), their entire supply (40+) were sold out in the first few hours.
What makes this tool so special? By simply inserting 18-26 gauge wire (soft or half-hard) into this tool, you can create your own custom length, gauge and color eye pins. Simply squeeze the handle for the tool to form a uniform, consistent loop AND TRIM the wire to the desired length,
Don't use eye pins? This tool is perfect for simple earrings too. Place beads on a head or eye pin and insert the excess wire (at least 1/2 inch), with the beads butting up to the tool. Before you know it, you have a perfect loop to attach to your earring of choice.
Do you like the look of beaded chains, or would like to make rosaries, but are discouraged by the amount of work required. With the One Step Looper, the chain almost makes itself. The only caution with this tool is to make sure the selected wire is sufficient for the application. Chain in particular should not be created with a fine, soft wire as the loops will open when they are stressed.
