The Balm's Nude'Tude Palette: Best of the Nude Shadow Collections?

With nude and nautral eye shadow palettes being all the rage, there are many options for shopper to choose from. Urban Decay’s Naked ($48) and Naked2 ($50) Palettes are probably the best known, but Too Faced’s Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection ($36) and Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection ($36)are also pretty popular as well. One of the newest additions to the nude eye shadow palette scene is TheBalm’s Nude’tude Palette ($36). While the brand may not have as high a profile as Urban Decay or Too Faced, this palette may actually be the best of the bunch.

The Nude’tude Palette contains 12 shimmery and matte eye shadows for a total of 11.08 grams of product. The shades include Sassy, a frosty white; Snobby, a shimmery mid-tone gold; Stubborn, a satiny mid-tone peach; Stand-offish, a shimmery pink champagne; Selfish, a frosty medium taupe; Sultry, a matte warm brown; Sophisticated, a shimmery dark brown; Schitzo, a satiny golden brown; Sexy, a matte red brown; Silly, a dark brown with gold glitter; Serious, a rich matte black; and Sleek, a matte black brown. The palette also comes with a small double-ended shadow brush.

Packaging

The palette comes in sturdy cardboard packaging that contains a large mirror on the inside lid. However, there are two different designs for the palette’s interior. The Feeling Naughty version contains retro-style pinup girls with the individual eye shadows covering up their unmentionables. The Feeling Nice version does not contain the artwork of the girls and has the same vintage inspired design that the decorates the cover of the palette.

Availability

You can purchase the Nude’Tude Palete at thebalm.com, perfumania.com, feelunique.com and amazon.com. However, T.J. Maxx stores often carry The Balm products at discounted prices, so you may be able to find the palette at Long Island T.J. Maxx locations in Oceanside, New Hyde Park, Carle Place, Hicksville, Massapequa, Commack, and Greenvale.

Verdict

The Balm may not be as widely known as brands like Urban Decay or Too Faced, but the company has a track record of creating high quality palettes with highly pigmented, easy to blend shadows. The Nude’Tude Palette is no exception. There are shades that work well for everyday office or school friendly looks, but the palette also contains dark shadows that allow you to turn your look up a notch for a night out. All of the shadows are soft and creamy, so they’re easy to apply and blend. The only shade that’s a little difficult to work with is Silly because it contains large gold glitter that can fall beneath your eyes when you apply it.  While Urban Decay’s Naked2 is a great palette, if you’re torn between it and the Balm’s Nude’tude Palette, you may want to go with the Nude’tude Palette since it contains the same number of shadows but costs $14 less. The quality is just as high, too, and the shades seem more neutral so they’ll work on a greater number of skin tones.
