The Airborne Toxic Event

Once again, W-EQX joining with Northern Lights, put on another original, indie-rock concert that was the highlight of everyone's hump-day, for sure.

With only a couple of shows left in the US, The Airborne Toxic Event graciously visited upstate, NY last night. The 5 member band from LA includes Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Noah Harmon (electric and upright bass, backing vocals), Daren Taylor (drums) and Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals)...and for her infamous leather shorts.

The lead singer Jollett's song compositions come from a culmination of traumatic events that are so often relatable, despite unfortunate. A break up and a family member battling cancer can sure spark lyrics that pull at your heart-strings. Pair those lyrics with up-tempo beats with a great pulse and a couple of PBR's and you have yourself a great time.

Their first full length album was released in 2008, with the widely known song, "Sometime After Midnight." This emo tune was #1 Alternative Song of the Year in '08, which gained them noted popularity at summer music festivals and also late-night tv shows.

In 2011 their second album, All At Once, was released this year and their song "Changing" spread like wildfire over the indi-alternative radio stations everywhere, and the most beloved radio station of them all, W-EQX The Real Alternative. Visit iTunes and Amazon for single or album downloads, for The Airbone Toxic Event encompasses a great range of musical talent and melodies that are dramatic (in a good way), cathartic and FUN.

If you missed them in Clifton Park, NY here are the remainder of the dates:

Thu Aug 4 – Hartford, CT – Webster Theatre
Fri Aug 5 – Pawtucket, RI – The Met
Sat Aug 6 – Philadelphia, PA – The Piazza at Schmidts – 104.5 Summer Block Party
Fri Aug 26 – Del Mar, CA – Del Mar Race Track
