Whether you like to play a few arcade games, bet on the ponies or just catch a game on the TV while chatting with friends the Armadillo Grill http://www.myarmadillogrill.com/ could be the place for you. Situated on Camelback Rd. near some of the higher profile restaurants, this neighborhood bar and grill has a varied menu of sandwiches, salads and entree's. The 19th Street burger ($9.99) is the only burger on the menu and does not disappoint.
This 1/2 lb. of ground Angus beef comes served on a buttered and toasted Brioche bun and comes topped with your choice of cheese along with green leaf lettuce and thick cut red onions and tomato slices. A pickle spear & tooth pick keep all together. Cooked on a flat top to lock in the juices it also gives the outside a caramelized look and taste. More than a dozen add on's are available for $.75 or $1 each. On this visit I had my burger topped with Brie cheese for its soft and creamy texture and taste. The burger was cooked to my liking leaving a soft and juicy middle and tasted good with the Brie and LTO. A side of 1,000 Island dressing is served along with your choice of side dish that includes steak fries, cottage cheese, fruit, seasonal veggies or the Asian slaw which I chose that was a generous portion and tasted very good.
The 19th Street burger offers a lot for the money in a part of Phoenix where just the opposite is often the case.
