The 1/2 pound sirloin burger at Il Vinaio in Mesa

As one of the few restaurants in downtown Mesa, Il Vinaio(The Wine Merchant) http://www.ilvinaio.net brings good food & wine to an area starving for both. With an 1/2 lb. Antelope burger ($16) and a 1/2 lb. Sirloin burger ($10) on the menu I went with the sirloin burger on this visit.

Served on a soft and toasted bun from local bakery Breadsmith, the pan seared burger comes served naked, unless you want cheese, except for being garnished Romaine lettuce, tomato and pickle slices. Bite after bite this soft and juicy burger on the inside along with a nice crust on the outside made for a very filling and good tasting burger for the money. Fresh cut fries, side salad or fresh fruit are you options for a side and the salad did the trick for me. During dinner the burger is topped with bacon and served with the fresh cut fries and goes for $12.

Il Vinaio is the perfect place if you're headed to the Mesa Center for the Arts for a show or you enjoy listening to live music or if you just want a good burger and meal prepared and served by good people.

Il Vinaio is at 270 W. Main St. (Main & Country Club) Mesa 85201. (480)649-6476 and is open Tues.-Thurs. from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Fri. from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Sat. from 8 a.m. -11 p.m. and Sun. 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Closed on Mon.
