Nearly a full year after his last show at the Bottleneck, That 1 Guy returned for another magical night of bizarre instrumentals, goofy lyrics and actual magic tricks. Mike Silverman's one-man-act is a spectacle to behold and from beginning to end, his set held the entire dance floor and bleachers of viewers in a trance.
That 1 Guy brought out his many home-made instruments; the Magic Pipe, the Magic Boot, a duck sock puppet, and more. Hardcore That 1 Guy fans cheered with every instruments' new part, and sang along to favorite hits like "Buttmachine" and "The Moon is Disgusting". Utilizing every style under the sun, from Heavy Metal, to lounge room Jazz, That 1 Guy loops his own rhythms, beats, melodies and harmonies, piecing together remarkable songs in the most interesting, off-beat chords. Exploring trail-blazing experimental music that's still melodic and easy on the ears, That 1 Guy creates music that is completely fresh and innovative.
Including his magic tricks, laser lights and goofy facial expressions, That 1 Guy is a full night of entertainment all on his own. That 1 Guy's show last year was impressive, but this latest show trumped it. The audience may not have danced much, but the packed dance floor, bleachers and bar roared with approval after each solo and song. For anyone who appreciates creative, truly unique live music, That 1 Guy is a must-see show.
