There are a plethora of good restaurants along the Jersey shore, especially restaurants that showcase fresh seafood, but for Tex Mex and Mexican food Bandanas Mexican Grille on Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood Crest is the best. The restaurant menu is extensive and the food includes both Mexican favorites (like enchiladas and burritos) and yummy Tex Mex and American options as well. The food is fresh and fun and the restaurant provides a great family-friendly environment.
Bandanas is a BYOB, open for both lunch and dinner during the summer months but they recommend calling for both pre and post season hours. The menu offers a variety of tasty options, including a large vegetarian and gluten free section. In addition to their usual menu, they also offer a number of daily specials like their chorizo and potato empanada appetizer and their ceviche veracruz appetizer, prepared with locally caught mahi mahi and fresh shrimp. The everyday menu items include delicious entrees like chicken enchiladas in a roasted tomatillo sauce, the burrito asado with grilled steak in a chile sauce, and fresh fish tacos with all the fixings. There are Mexican combos available for those that can't decide on just one item.
Each meal also starts out with complimentary tortilla chips and homemade salsa. Bandanas also offers wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, burgers, and popular salads like their steak and avocado salad which comes with grilled corn, black beans and cheese.
The lunch and dinner menus at Bandanas are almost outdone by their amazing dessert menu. With tons of ice cream flavors and toppings, sundaes are a big hit, but the menu also includes fried banana split, a warm brownie sundae, and a caramel apple bowl which is a tortilla bowl coated in cinnamon and sugar topped with vanilla ice cream, hotel caramel apples and a generous helping of whipped cream. Sweet crepes, Belgian waffles and frozen drinks complete the famous dessert menu.
Bandanas does not accept reservations, but they do take call aheads.
