If you're a fan of 'Terraria', the 2-D side scrolling game where you fight baddies, craft armor, and dig for resources, then you know you can play it on PC, XBox or PS, or the iPhone. But if you're not an Apple user, and you've been wanting to take your game mobile, then there's good news. As of September 17, you can now demo or purchase 'Terraria' for your Android device through the Google Play store.
Because of the way that touch-games have to be played, there are a few differences in this version than in previous versions. The demo is a bit more in-depth than in the XBox version, and the selection of items is a bit easier. However, also because of touch functionality, sometimes it can be difficult to do the simplest of tasks, such as jumping, moving items to different slots, etc.
One nice improvement is the door functionality. Now you can just walk through the door without having to select it. There could be issues with this, though, during one of the games various invasions, be it Goblin Army or something else.
Overall, the game plays pretty much like its predecessors, but because of the touch functionality it could get ugly really fast. If you absolutely have to play 'Terraria' on the go, then this is definitely an app just for you. But, if you can wait to play it either on XBox or on the PC (massive update incoming on October 1), then that would probably be for the best.
Bottom Line: 'Terraria' looks and plays great, just like previous versions, but the occasional problems with the touch functions really draw away from this game.
