Terra Andina, Malbec, Mendoza, AR, 2011, has a nice deep purple color, typical of Malbec from Argentina. Its nose is filled with lots of fresh berries such as raspberries and black berries along with aromas of minerals. The palate reflects the nose raspberries, blackberries and strawberries with wet slate and graphite. Like many Argentinian Malbecs, this is meant to drink young; it does see 8 months in oak barrels that add some tannins and structure. The big fruit is offset with some crisp acidity, which makes it the perfect steak wine. The berry flavors also mean it can be enjoyed with nice roast pork.
Best of all this wine is inexpensive and can be enjoyed without feeling to cheap to go with your expensive steak dinner.
