Ted Billings: 'American Bedrooms' (2012)

“American Bedrooms” by Ted Billings is an Indie Rock album out of Boston.

The opening song (entitled: “Freedom”) starts things off on a post-apocalyptic note, with descriptions of a war and destruction watched by Billings from afar (but it appears the damage may be heading closer to home).

The sound of the production is a very catchy fuzz rock sound, best executed in songs like “Meet Me in My Dreams”, which exemplify a style similar to the band Spoon.

The second song (entitled “House on Fire”) seems to be directly inspired by some themes from the film “Synecdoche, New York”. The dissonant nature of the instrumentals and vocal harmonies within this song suite the subject matter quite well.

Overall songs are very thematic throughout, with each separate track creating a separate little reality for Billings to fiddle around in and explore.
