Fresh drinking water, it’s one of the most important nutrients we humans need to survive. It’s something many people take for granted on a daily basis. The Hyperflow is a very compact water filtration system that is lightweight and easy to use. It is effective against protozoa, bacteria, and particulates. However, it is not capable of filtering out viruses, or chemical toxins. It comes with a dual pocket carrying case of which one pocket is solid and the other is comprised of a mesh screen. It also comes with a quick connect bottle adapter that allows you to directly connect it to wide mouth bottles. A pre-filter and short length of tubing is included to make the filtering process a bit more convenient.
One of the features I really like about this filter system is its ability to be maintained in the field without any tools. Another great feature is that it can pump more than three liters of water every twenty strokes. This makes for a very nice high flow rate, allowing you to quickly fill up your various water bottles or water packs and get back on the trail.
I tested the Hyperflow in conjunction with my Nalgene water bottle and the wide mouth bottle adapter worked flawlessly. I was also able to effectively utilize the filter with water bottles of many various shapes, sizes, and openings. For two weeks camping near a lake I used the Hyperflow as my main source of drinking water for two people. Not once did I experience a problem with it. The build quality and rugged durability seem quite high. The storage sack has two loops, one on each top corner. I used them to attach the Hyperflow via carabineer to the backside straps of my tactical chest pack, which I wear while motorcycle riding, kayaking, and hiking. During each of these activities the Hyperflow was subjected to various levels of bumps and scrapes. All of which it survived without any damage whatsoever.
The small size, ease of use, and durability make the Hyperflow Microfilter by MSR a very effective water purification system. I am extremely pleased with its performance and highly recommend it for anyone in the market for a durable backpacking or emergency water filter that can fit in any backpack without taking up much room.
