Celestial Seasonings Green Tea for Keurig brewers

Celestial Seasonings Green Tea is now available in K-cups for use in the Keurig brewer. This is a newer way of making tea and even more convenient than using teabags. One just pops the cup into the brewer, adjust the water temperature, and selects the amount of water to be used. In less than a minute, the Keurig produces a serving of tea.z

The question is how does it taste?

The answer is very nice.

The review: Celestial Seasonings Green Tea for the Keurig brewer. The ingredients are green tea and white tea.

Form: A 0.1 ounce K-cup

Dry leaf: Not visible because of packaging style.

The steeping: The tea was brewed in a Keurig K65 Special Edition Brewer. The amount of water was set for 7.25 ounces at 187 degrees.

The liquor: The liquor is a light yellow-green color, slightly cloudy. The fragrance is sweet, a bit grassy. The flavor is mellow but definitely present. The flavor is pleasantly reminiscent of green hay.

This was quite surprising because this is very different from the customary ways of steeping tea. Tea is normally steeped rather than having water run through it as if it were coffee grounds.

The answer seems to lie in the fact that the tea leaves have been ground very fine, almost but not quite like a powder. This allows a greater surface area of the tea to be exposed to the water and allows more tea to be extracted from the leaves quickly.

Conclusion: Tea from a Keurig brewer will never be the same as drinking a full leaf green tea steeped in a teapot or gaiwan, but it does taste good and it is a very convenient way to get a cup of tea. For many people using the Keurig brewer may be the best way of getting a cup of tea first thing in the morning or any time they are in a hurry. Their choices may well be tea in K-cups or no tea at all. No tea at all is a sad choice.

This is particularly so when it comes to green tea. Scientific studies have linked green tea to lowering the risks of some types of cancer, type 2 diabetes , and heart disease. It has also been associated with better brain function, faster weight loss, improved dental health and longevity. Having one or two cups of green tea a day may not be a cure all for these or any other health problems, but it is one key ingredient that doctors and naturopathic practitioners both agree contributes to good health.

Celestial Seasonings Green Tea is Fair Trade certified. It is packaged in K-cups by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and can be found on their website and in some grocery stores and places such as Walmart and Target.
