Namco Bandai released Tales of Xillia on August 6, 2013 in the USA. Tales of Xillia is latest role playing game in the Tales series. This game is based on the planet of Liese Maxia. The planet of Liese Maxia is populated by both humanoids and spirits.
Players will get to use two main characters. First is Jude Mathis, who is a fifth-teen year old medical student who specializes in hand-to-hand combat. Second is Milla Maxwell, an elemental spell-caster who also carries a sword. Jude and Milla meet while investigating a military laboratory. Together they uncover a military conspiracy and become fugitives in the process. Several other secondary characters join Jude and Milla during the game to round out the adventuring party.
During combat you control a four person party. With each character you have access to combat abilities and spell-casting abilities. Your characters will also be able to dodge and counterattack enemy attacks. Teamwork is a central part of combat in Tales of Xillia. Two characters from the party can attack and enemy simultaneously. This is especially important when combating powerful foes.
Graphics for Tales of Xillia are impressive and definitely an improvement over previous games in the Tales series. Anime style graphics are equally well done in the cut-scenes and during game play.
Unfortunately Tales of Xillia is only available on PS3 which does limit the player audience. It currently retails for $60 US dollars. The limited edition set retails for about $150 and includes an art book, Milla figurine, and music CD. There is another boxed set priced at $165 that comes with the game and a limited edition dual shock controller. In Japan a limitied edition PS3 with Tales of Xillia art is available for 37,980 yen which is equal to about $385.
