Taking Back Sunday and The Used performed in the evening at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney on April 27, 2014, in front of a sold-out crowd. This particular stop was the very last of their duo-headliner tour and Orlando was fortunate to have such talented artists perform at one of the top venues in the U.S.
The Used's stage ambiance had televisions with the guts removed and bright lights put in their place instead. It created a bright backlight and lit up the stage from every angle. The performed a variety of their older songs which was right on cue since the majority of the crowd was a bit more mature and are the fans that have been following them since their start of Vans Warped Tour. Performing and hour long set ended with an intro cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and a bit of Rage Against The Machine’s “Killing In The Name Of.”
The stage curtains opened up while the lights went dim as Taking Back Sunday gracefully walked onto the bare stage. Taking Back Sunday is a bit more relaxed than The Used for as they are more alternative than “screamo.” The crowd was more relaxed (and exhausted) as the lead singer, Adam Lazzara, spoke with the fans about his new song “Better Homes and Gardens” from the new album, “Happiness Is.” The exciting news is that Lazzara did drop that the band would be going back on tour and coming back to Orlando this year.
