The Take Action Tour is on the road again, and recently made their stop in Indianapolis, Indiana. This year marks the eleventh consecutive year of the tour and organization working with artists and fans to bring attention to major issues within our society. This year the tour will be benefiting the It Gets Better Project, a national organization created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The "It Gets Better Project"wants to remind teenagers going through tough times that they are not alone — and it WILL get better. On this years tour you will be able to see The Used, We Came As Romans, Crown The Empire, and Mindflow. I was lucky enough to be in attendance of this show, I will tell you what you are in store for if you are lucky enough to make it out to the show.

First up is is a band called Mindflow, a progressive metal band from Brazil. This is a band that I admittedly had never really listened to prior to this show. The band has a pretty unique sound, and plays with substantial amounts energy. I can say it is clear that this band is extremely aware of the crowd and how to get them involved. As far as an opening act goes I was quite impressed with these guys and they were a solid choice to open the show. They have great potential and will be sure to start making waves after this tour.

Second to take the stage was Crown The Empire. If you are a hardcore fan and you aren’t listening to these guys then you are doing it wrong. Featuring a great mix of clean vocals with powerful screams, the band has been making a lot of waves over the last year. With the release of their new studio full-length album “The Fallout” the band takes the stage with an immense amount of energy. The guys play songs from both albums, but put a heavy emphasis on the new material. The crowd really responded well to the new songs.

We Came As Romans take the stage next, and the crowd’s energy grew exponentially. From the get go the band and crowd went full throttle. Supporting their new album the band opens with a couple of newer tracks, but still plays tracks from older records for the fans that have followed them. The guys enjoy being on stage and playing music, and they can get a crowd involved and moving better than most bands can hope. Though they have not released much new material as of late they are going into the studio after this tour to begin the recording of their next studio full-length album.

And finally the headliners get to take the stage, The Used. I personally have been a fan of The Used for the last about 10 years. I can honestly say that everyone in the crowd was beyond excited for Bert and the guys to take the stage. These guys truly love what they do and it shows the entire time while they are on stage and anytime they are interacting with fans. The stage show from these guys is pure energy and passion. They play about 14 songs for their set and it covers every album of the catalogue. There is a song for every single fan, no matter how long you’ve listened. One of the special things about this show in particular was when Bert had invited a fan up on stage, this fan then called up his girlfriend and purposed to her and she said yes obviously.

If you are looking for a great all around in your face rock show, this is it. Not only is it an outstanding show it supports an incredibly important cause. The “It Gets Better Project” along with Hopeless Records, Sub City, and all of these bands are committed to spreading the knowledge and awareness about this important issue. If there is a show near you get to it, if there isn’t pick up the Take Action Compilation album and help to support this cause. I was able to catch up with Bert before the show and talk with him about the tour, and new album and a variety of other things which you can read here.
