Ever since Morgan Spurlock burst onto the scene with his eye opening Super Size Me documentary he has taken this genre by storm, including a TV series and other films. He always picks interesting topics and unique ways to approach it to make them stand out more than just your average documentary. His latest is no exception taking on the world of metrosexuals and manscaping aptly titled Mansome.
In this film Spurlock takes a humorous yet strange trip through the world of the new vision of being a man including the above mentioned manscaping, grooming products and what does it mean to be a man in this day and age. Much like Chris Rock’s Good Hair, Spurlock uses his strength in the industry to bring along some star power including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Judd Apatow, Adam Corolla, Zach Galifianakis and more. While the focus is the latest trends in man grooming, he also takes a trip to the other side of the extreme of beard competition. This film takes an otherwise uninteresting topic and uses strange characters, celebrities, and humor to deliver a film that really showcases the line that has been drawn to manhood.
Throughout the film there are numerous moments featuring Jason Bateman and Will Arnett getting their own variations of grooming as they discuss the various topics to some pretty funny results. While not as powerful as Super Size Me, Spurlock has defiantly created a fun and unique documentary that is sure to suck you into this world whether you want it to or not.
