Taco and tequila Tuesdays at SOL Mexican Cocina (Photos)

Replacing Parc Central at the swanky Scottsdale Quarter is the quirky Baja California-style restaurant, SOL Mexican Cocina. Two large glass doors bring you into a funky space featuring a wall composed of strategically stacked wooden planks that jump out sporadically and hold various beautiful bottles of tequila. Luckily, not only does this location offer a fantastic atmosphere and phenomenal food but they offer it all at an impressive price if you know when to go.

The servers are friendly and quick to bring homemade seasoned chips and salsa along with the interesting condiment bar consisting of hot sauce, limes, and kosher salt to kick up the food a notch beyond just salt and pepper. The restaurant's menu offers many unique dishes such as pomegranate guacamole, the “taco vampiro” and coconut calamari ranging from about $11-$26 and some ala carte tacos from $5-$7.

However, you can get the same great taste at a much better price if you swing by between 3pm-6pm on a Tuesday for taco and tequila Tuesdays. The taco plates that run upwards of $13 are slashed to an average of $3 for two tacos ala carte. That's six tacos for $9 depending on the variety chosen. And don't forget the drinks! SOL offers house margaritas for just $5.50. Chips and salsa, six tacos, and two margaritas come to a grand total of $20 before taxes and tip. Now that's a budget savvy experience without skipping on the spectacular.
