Tacchino, Dolcetto di Ovada, Piedmont, Italy, 2011

Tacchino, Dolcetto di Ovada, Piedmont, Italy, 2011 is nice dark garnet red in the glass. The nose is filled with dark red fruits and some earthiness. The palate is fruit forward with cherry, raspberry and blackberry up front. There is virtually no acidity and very light tannins. It has a nice medium finish.
Dolcetto is an easy drinking wine that can be enjoyed on its own or one of favorite pairings, pizza. The tomato sauce on pizza has its own acidity, so Dolcetto’s fruit is a nice counter balance. The Tacchino Dolcetto is easy drinking wine so keep a few bottles on hand when you just want to enjoy wine without thinking too much about it.
