Perhaps in Miami there are as many Spanish style restaurants as there are Cuban eateries, however it is very hard to find the flavors and atmosphere that truly resembles what you find in Madrid or Sevilla back in the old Continent. If you are missing the aromas and flavors of Spain, there is one place that can satisfy them, Cava Restaurant in Coral Gables.
Cava's claim to fame has been the live Tablao Flamenco they have on Friday and Saturday nights, when you can see the bailaoras dressed in color and ruffles, delighting the guests with their amazing dance, grace and power; but also Cava offers a great menu and what could be the best lunch deal in town; an all-you-can-eat Spanish buffet for less than $13. This buffet is ideal for the frugal but hungry professional that works nearby, or the family that needs to please different taste buds on a budget because this buffet runs seven days a week from 12-3pm. There are around 30 different items to choose from including tortilla española, jamón serrano, machego cheese (and other varieties), cold cuts, salads, seafood, marinated olives and a station with hot dishes that varies daily. Most definitely you will find something to satiate your appetite while you enjoy the casual ambiance and typical Spanish decor that transports you to Sevilla while you enjoy your meal.
Once you are done with the buffet, you can indulge in dessert and coffee, or wash it all down with a good Rioja from the cellar.
After 3pm there is the a-la-carte menu with ever more options to choose from. Weekends are the perfect opportunity to have a nice dinner with the Tablao Flamenco show. There is a $10 contribution for the artists that is required to enjoy the performance and they have two sittings on weekends, at 6:30 and 9:30pm.
Don't be surprised if after leaving Cava you will have the urge to book your next vacation to Spain. Y olé!
